Incredibly soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls made entirely without yeast! A quick yoghurt dough cuts the prep time to minutes, finished with a rich cream cheese glaze.
If you are craving a warm, gooey Soft Cinnamon Roll Dessert but do not have the time or patience to wait for a yeast dough to rise, this recipe is about to become your absolute favorite baking hack. Traditional cinnamon rolls can take hours of proofing, kneading, and waiting, but these Quick Soft Cinnamon Rolls deliver that same comforting, bakery-style experience in a fraction of the time. The secret to achieving an incredibly tender, pillowy texture without yeast lies entirely in your fridge: yoghurt. By combining plain or Greek yoghurt with flour, baking powder, and baking soda, you create a magical, tangy dough that puffs up beautifully in the oven. This creates the perfect canvas for the star of the show—a rich, buttery filling swirled generously with aromatic cinnamon powder and deep, caramel-like brown sugar. As the Soft Cinnamon Roll Dessert bakes, the sugar and butter melt together into a sticky, irresistible syrup that coats the bottom of the pan. And of course, no cinnamon roll is complete without frosting. While they are still warm, you will smother them in a luxurious, creamy glaze made from velvety cream cheese, sweet icing sugar, and a touch of vanilla powder. The icing melts slightly into the spirals, ensuring every single bite is decadent and moist. Whether you are baking a late-night treat, preparing a weekend brunch, or simply need a sweet pick-me-up that reheats beautifully for later, these Quick Soft Cinnamon Rolls will hit the spot perfectly. Enjoy the ultimate cozy dessert!
Ingredients
- 250 g Flour
- 240 g Yoghurt
- 1 tbsp Baking Powder
- 0.5 tsp Baking Soda
- 100 g Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp Cinnamon Powder
- 45 g Butter (Softened, for filling)
- 115 g Cream Cheese (Softened)
- 30 g Butter (Softened, for frosting)
- 60 g Icing Sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla Powder
Instructions
- 1Step 1: Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F) and lightly grease the baking dish.
- 2Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Add the yoghurt and stir gently until a shaggy dough begins to form.
- 3Step 3: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for 1 to 2 minutes until smooth. Roll the dough into a 25x35cm (10x14 inch) rectangle.
- 4Step 4: Spread the softened butter (for filling) evenly over the rolled dough. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon powder, then sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttery layer.
- 5Step 5: Starting from the long edge, roll the dough up tightly into a log. Cut the log into 8 equal slices and place them cut-side up in the prepared baking dish.
- 6Step 6: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes until the rolls have puffed up and turned golden brown.
- 7Step 7: While the rolls are baking, prepare the frosting by beating together the cream cheese, softened butter (for frosting), icing sugar, and vanilla powder until completely smooth and fluffy.
- 8Step 8: Remove the baked rolls from the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes. Spread the cream cheese frosting generously over the warm rolls so it melts slightly into the spirals. Serve warm and enjoy!
Chef's Tips
- •Make sure your cream cheese and butter are truly room temperature before making the frosting, or it may become lumpy.
- •Do not over-knead the yoghurt dough; stop just when it comes together so your rolls stay soft and pillowy.
- •Use a piece of thread or unflavored dental floss to slice the dough log for perfectly clean cuts that won't squash the rolls!
