A refreshing, savory, and vibrant homemade tomato juice made from fresh tomatoes with a bright hint of lemon.
There is nothing quite like the vibrant, refreshing taste of Fresh Homemade Tomato Juice. If you have an abundance of beautiful, ripe tomatoes sitting in your fridge, transforming them into a savory, thirst-quenching beverage is one of the most rewarding ways to enjoy them. Unlike store-bought versions that are often loaded with excess sodium and artificial preservatives, this Fresh Homemade Tomato Juice allows you to control exactly what goes into your glass. The natural sweetness and subtle acidity of the tomatoes shine through beautifully, while a freshly squeezed touch of lemon juice adds a bright, zesty lift that wakes up your palate. For those who enjoy a little bit of heat, adding a dash of hot sauce elevates this simple drink into a delightfully spicy morning pick-me-up or a fantastic base for a weekend brunch mocktail. Creating your own Fresh Homemade Tomato Juice is incredibly simple and requires no cooking—just a quick blend and a gentle strain to ensure a silky-smooth texture. You can enjoy it purely on its own over ice, or customize it by tossing in a bit of cucumber, or even a pinch of your favorite herbs before blending. Whether you are looking for a nutritious, low-calorie start to your day, a savory afternoon snack, or a vibrant addition to your brunch table, this pure and vibrant juice is guaranteed to hit the spot. Grab your freshest ingredients and let’s get blending!
Ingredients
- 800 g Tomatoes (about 5 medium tomatoes)
- 120 ml Water
- 15 ml Lemon (juice of half a lemon)
- 2 g Sea Salt (½ tsp)
- 1 g Black Pepper (¼ tsp)
- 5 ml Tabasco Sriracha (Optional) (1 tsp)
Instructions
- 1Wash and roughly chop the tomatoes, removing the tough core pieces.
- 2Place the chopped tomatoes and the water into a blender. Blend on high for about 1 to 2 minutes until the mixture is completely smooth.
- 3Place a fine mesh strainer over a large pitcher or bowl. Pour the blended tomatoes through the strainer.
- 4Use a spoon to gently press the liquid through the mesh, leaving the skin and seeds behind. Discard the leftover pulp.
- 5Stir the juice of the lemon, sea salt, black pepper, and Tabasco Sriracha into the strained juice. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
- 6Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or serve immediately poured over ice.
Chef's Tips
- •If your tomatoes aren't very sweet, you can add a small pinch of white sugar to balance the acidity.
- •For extra freshness, blend a small piece of celery or a slice of cucumber along with the tomatoes.
