A thick, sweet, and creamy traditional Indian yogurt drink flavored with tropical mango and fragrant cardamom.
Cool down with this incredibly refreshing Classic Mango Lassi! When you are serving rich, savory, or spicy meals, nothing cleanses the palate quite like a sweet, creamy yogurt drink. This Classic Mango Lassi brings the vibrant flavors of an authentic Indian restaurant straight into your kitchen. By blending ripe, juicy mangoes with cool, tangy yogurt, you create a perfectly balanced beverage that is both a drink and a light dessert. The secret ingredient here is a tiny pinch of ground cardamom, which elevates the tropical fruit flavor and adds a beautiful, fragrant warmth to the background. You can sweeten it up with a drizzle of honey or simple syrup depending on the natural sweetness of your fruit. Whip up this Classic Mango Lassi in just five minutes, pour it over ice, and enjoy the ultimate tropical cooler!
Ingredients
- 200 g Fresh Mango (1 large mango, peeled and diced)
- 240 ml Yoghurt (1 cup)
- 2 tbsp Honey or Sugar Syrup
- 0.25 tsp Cardamom Powder
- 60 ml Cold Water or Ice Cubes (about 1/4 cup)
Instructions
- 1Peel the mango, remove the pit, and cut the flesh into chunks.
- 2Place the mango chunks, yoghurt, honey, cardamom powder, and cold water or ice cubes into a blender.
- 3Blend on high speed for 1 to 2 minutes until the mixture is completely smooth and frothy.
- 4Taste the lassi and add a little more honey if your mango wasn't naturally very sweet.
- 5Pour into tall glasses and serve immediately while cold.
Chef's Tips
- •If you want to make it even more authentic, add a tiny drop of Rose Water to the blender for a beautiful floral aroma.
- •For a thicker lassi, skip the water and use frozen mango chunks instead of fresh ones.
