A classic savory stir-fry featuring tender strips of steak and crisp broccoli in a garlic-ginger soy glaze.
There is satisfying simplicity in a perfectly executed Ginger Soy Beef & Broccoli Stir-Fry. This recipe is the ultimate weeknight warrior, transforming your frozen Striploin Steak into tender, velveted morsels of savory perfection. The secret lies in slicing the beef while it is still partially frozen, allowing for paper-thin cuts that absorb the rich marinade, and coating it in corn starch to seal in the juices.
Unlike greasy takeout versions, this homemade Beef & Broccoli bursts with the fresh crunch of vibrant Broccoli florets and sweet Red Bell Peppers. The sauce is a sticky, aromatic glaze made from your pantry staples: salty Soy Sauce, sweet Brown Sugar, nutty Sesame Oil, and a generous kick of fresh Ginger and Garlic. It comes together in minutes once the prep is done, making it faster than waiting for delivery. Whether served over steaming rice or eaten straight from the pan, this dish balances protein, fiber, and bold umami flavors in every bite. It is a fantastic way to use up perishable vegetables while enjoying a restaurant-quality meal right from your own kitchen.
Ingredients
- 300 g Striploin Steak
- 300 g Broccoli (Florets)
- 1 whole Red Bell Pepper
- 80 ml Soy Sauce
- 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp Corn Starch
- 1 tbsp Ginger
- 2 cloves Garlic
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil
- 2 stalks Green Onions
- 1 tsp Sesame Seeds
Instructions
- 1Slice the striploin steak thinly against the grain. In a bowl, toss the beef with corn starch to coat.
- 2Whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil in a small jar or bowl to make the sauce.
- 3Heat a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add a splash of oil and sear the striploin steak strips for 2-3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked. Remove beef from the pan and set aside.
- 4In the same hot pan, add the broccoli florets and sliced red bell pepper. Add a splash of water (about 2 tbsp) and cover for 2 minutes to steam them slightly.
- 5Remove the lid, return the striploin steak to the pan, and pour in the sauce mixture.
- 6Toss everything together for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the meat and vegetables glossy.
- 7Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Chef's Tips
- •Slicing the steak while it is still partially frozen makes it much easier to get thin, even strips.
- •Don't overcrowd the pan when searing the beef; do it in batches if necessary to get a nice brown crust.
