A quick and fresh pasta dish with tender fish, refined with garlic and lemon.

Lemon Fish Pasta is the perfect dish for when you're in a hurry but don't want to sacrifice a high-quality taste experience. This recipe for Lemon Fish Pasta combines tender fish fillets with al dente cooked pasta in a wonderfully fresh sauce of lemon and garlic. Lemon Fish Pasta impresses with its simplicity and the high quality of its basic ingredients. Why does this dish work so well? Quite simply: the acidity of the lemon cuts through the fat of the fish and provides a lightness that perfectly matches the carbohydrates in the pasta. A high-quality olive oil serves as a flavor carrier and combines all the components into a silky sauce. An important tip for preparation: do not overcook the fish so that it remains juicy and melts in your mouth. If you like, you can add a handful of fresh herbs like parsley or dill at the end to further deepen the aroma. This dish is proof that with just a few ingredients, you can conjure up a restaurant-worthy dinner that is both healthy and filling. Whether for a cozy evening after work or a quick lunch – Lemon Fish Pasta is always a good choice.

Ingredients

  • 200 g Noodles (e.g. spaghetti or linguine) (about half a pack)
  • 300 g Fish fillet (e.g. cod, salmon, or pike-perch) (about 2 fillets)
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves
  • 1 piece Lemon (juice and zest)
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 pinch Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. 1
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the noodles al dente according to the package instructions. Reserve some pasta water before draining.
  2. 2
In the meantime, pat the fish fillet dry and cut into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. 3
Finely chop the garlic and zest and juice the lemon.
  4. 4
Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté the garlic briefly until translucent, without letting it brown.
  5. 5
Add the fish fillet pieces to the pan and fry for about 2–3 minutes on each side until cooked through but still juicy.
  6. 6
Add the cooked noodles directly to the fish in the pan. Add the juice and zest of the lemon as well as a splash of pasta water.
  7. 7
Carefully mix everything until a slightly creamy emulsion forms that coats the noodles. Season to taste with salt and pepper and serve immediately.

Chef's Tips

  • Stirring in a bit of cold butter at the end makes the sauce even creamier.
  • Fresh parsley or chili flakes add extra depth to the dish.
  • Fold in the fish at the very end so that it doesn't fall apart.
