Warm, buttery bread rolled with chocolate spread and fresh strawberries, pan-fried until crispy, and coated in cinnamon sugar.
Looking for a quick, decadent dessert that takes almost no effort? These Strawberry & Chocolate French Toast Roll-Ups are the ultimate sweet treat. We take soft, flattened bread, spread it generously with rich chocolate spread, and stuff it with freshly chopped strawberries. Once rolled up tightly, they get dipped in a rich egg wash and pan-fried in sizzling butter until perfectly golden and crisp on the outside. To finish, they are rolled in a sweet, fragrant coating of cinnamon and brown sugar. The result is a warm, gooey, bite-sized pastry alternative that tastes like it came from a bakery! Top them with a generous squirt of spray cream for a fun, comforting dessert that uses everyday ingredients.
Ingredients
- 4 slices Sliced Bread
- 2 tbsp Chocolate Spread
- 60 g Strawberry (about 4-5 large strawberries, finely chopped)
- 1 large Egg
- 1 tbsp Canned Cream
- 1 tbsp Butter
- 2 tbsp Coffee Brown Sugar
- 1 tsp Cinnamon Powder
- 1 serving Spray Cream (for garnish)
Instructions
- 1Trim the crusts off the sliced bread. Using a rolling pin or a clean glass, roll each slice of bread completely flat.
- 2Spread a thin layer of chocolate spread over each flattened slice of bread.
- 3Line up a small row of finely chopped strawberries along the bottom edge of each slice, then roll the bread up tightly like a cigar.
- 4In a shallow bowl, whisk the egg and canned cream together until smooth.
- 5On a small plate, mix the coffee brown sugar and cinnamon powder together to create your sweet coating.
- 6Heat the butter in a skillet over medium heat until melted and lightly bubbling.
- 7Dip each rolled-up bread stick into the egg mixture, ensuring it's fully coated, then place them immediately into the hot skillet.
- 8Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, turning frequently, until all sides are golden brown and crispy.
- 9Remove the warm rolls from the skillet and immediately roll them in the cinnamon powder and coffee brown sugar mixture until fully coated.
- 10Serve warm with a generous topping of spray cream on the side to dip them into!
Chef's Tips
- •Make sure your strawberries are chopped very small so the bread rolls up easily without breaking.
- •If you want an extra crunch, you can toast your trimmed crusts in the leftover butter with a little sugar as a chef's snack!
