A tender turkey and rice dish bound together by a zesty, creamy garlic sauce.
This Creamy Garlic & Herb Turkey Skillet is the perfect way to utilize turkey meat in a way that is both light and incredibly satisfying. Often, turkey can become dry, but by simmering it gently in a sauce made from crème fraîche and chicken stock powder, the meat stays tender and juicy. This Creamy Garlic & Herb Turkey Skillet relies on the aromatic base of onion and garlic to build a deep savory profile, while a touch of Italian seasoning adds a Mediterranean flair. Serving this over fluffy jasmine rice allows the grains to soak up the luxurious sauce, making every bite flavorful. If you are looking for a high-protein meal that feels like comfort food without the heaviness of a traditional gravy, this Creamy Garlic & Herb Turkey Skillet is your answer. The addition of crème fraîche provides a slight tang that cuts through the richness, balancing the dish perfectly. It is a one-pan wonder that minimizes cleanup while maximizing taste, making it ideal for a quick weeknight dinner or a healthy meal prep option. You can also customize this by adding a pinch of chili flakes for heat or a drizzle of pomegranate molasses at the end for a surprising sweet-and-sour finish.
Ingredients
- 350 g Turkey Meat (about 2 cups chopped)
- 150 g Jasmine Rice (¾ cup)
- 80 g Crème Fraîche (1/3 cup)
- 1 count Onion (1 small onion)
- 2 count Garlic (2 cloves)
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 tsp Chicken Stock Powder
- 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
- 0.5 tsp Salt
- 0.25 tsp Black Pepper
Instructions
- 1Rinse the jasmine rice and cook it in a pot with 300ml (1.25 cups) of water until fluffy, then set aside.
- 2Cut the turkey meat into bite-sized cubes.
- 3Finely dice the onion and mince the garlic.
- 4Heat olive oil in the skillet over medium-high heat. Add the turkey meat and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-6 minutes.
- 5Add the onion to the skillet and sauté for 3 minutes until translucent. Stir in the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- 6Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the crème fraîche, chicken stock powder, and Italian seasoning. If the sauce is too thick, add 2 tablespoons of water.
- 7Season with salt and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer gently for 2 minutes to thicken.
- 8Serve the creamy turkey mixture over the warm jasmine rice.
Chef's Tips
- •For extra depth, add a squeeze of lemon or a teaspoon of your spicy calamansi sauce.
- •If you want a bit of heat, sprinkle some chili flakes over the finished dish.
- •Ensure the heat is low when adding the crème fraîche to prevent it from curdling.
