A simple and incredibly fast way to make juicy beef burgers in an air fryer.
Preparing a homemade air fryer burger is a revolutionary way to get juicy, flavorful meat without the smoke and splattering fat. Many wonder if an air fryer can handle a classic beef patty. The answer is: absolutely! A juicy air fryer burger comes out perfectly because the hot air circulating inside the device quickly seals the meat's pores, creating a delicate, slightly crispy crust on the outside while the inside remains soft and moist. The key to success in this recipe is choosing the right meat. Beef with about 20% fat works best—fat ensures your air fryer burger won't be dry. Also, remember not to overwork the meat; just gently shape it and season generously right before cooking. This recipe focuses on the classics. Once the patties are ready, place slices of sharp cheddar cheese on them for the last minute to melt beautifully. Then, just toast some buttery buns and assemble everything with fresh lettuce, juicy tomato, crunchy red onion, and your favorite sauce. This homemade air fryer burger is a great option for a quick, satisfying midweek dinner or a casual meal with friends. Forget about standing over a hot pan—this preparation method is clean, fast, and incredibly delicious.
Ingredients
- 300 g Ground beef (approx. 20% fat) (for 2 large patties)
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Freshly ground pepper
- 2 pcs Burger buns
- 2 slices Cheddar cheese (sliced)
- 2 leaves Lettuce (e.g., Romaine or iceberg)
- 0.5 pcs Tomato (a few slices)
- 0.5 pcs Red onion (a few rings)
- 2 tbsp Favorite burger sauce (or mayonnaise)
Instructions
- 1Divide the ground beef into two equal portions. Gently form them into round patties, slightly wider than the burger buns, as the meat will shrink during cooking. Make a small thumb indent in the center of each patty.
- 2Sprinkle both sides of each patty with a generous amount of salt and freshly ground pepper.
- 3Preheat the air fryer to 190°C (375°F) for about 3 minutes.
- 4Place the seasoned meat in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 8-10 minutes, depending on preferred doneness, flipping halfway through.
- 5One minute before the end of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty so it has time to melt.
- 6Carefully remove the finished patties to a plate and let them rest for 2 minutes.
- 7Meanwhile, cut the burger buns in half and place them in the still-hot air fryer for one minute to lightly toast.
- 8Spread the bottom buns with burger sauce. Then layer the lettuce leaves, the hot patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, and red onion rings.
- 9Cover with the top part of the bun, press down gently, and serve immediately.
Chef's Tips
- •Do not overwork the beef like you would for meatballs – the more gently you form the patties, the looser and juicier they will be inside.
- •Fat dripping from the meat during air frying can sometimes cause smoke; adding a tablespoon of water to the bottom under the basket prevents this.
